Meet the crew on our red carpet launch night! FRIDAY 8 SEPTEMBER - 5pm to 10.30pm Enjoy a fabulous selection of short films from around Australia at 'Shorts At The Sea - Official Selection'. Held at a spectacular location by the sea with food and a bar available on the night, this event is not to be missed! SATURDAY 9 & SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER - 10am to 10.30pm The GBRFF weekend continues at the Arcadia Village Hotel and includes 'Village Shorts - Director's Choice', feature movies, documentaries, FREE industry forums, FREE workshops, film fun for kids, and a range of film events that will satiate the appetites of everyone from film enthusiasts to film professionals - with special events for families. Tickets on sale NOW! Discount ferry and movie tickets are available. You will need to get in early to secure accommodation on Magnetic Island, and to book your GBRFF tickets. Imagine the setting ... A tropical island paradise, the lapping of waves are just meters away, the temperature is deliciously comfortable, a bar and food are at hand, and you sit down to savor a fantastic selection of short films for the evening. It can all be yours at the 2017 GBRFF Shorts At The Sea, on Friday 8 September - in fact, why don't you book a room and stay for the weekend on your tropical island escape, and soak up the rest that GBRFF has to offer?
Cost: $20 or $15 concession/pensioner/student
A bar and food are available on the night, but are not included in the ticket price.
PLEASE NOTE: Allow time for an easy 5 minute walk from the main road opposite Arcadia Village Hotel (near the bus stop) to the event site at the ferry landing. If you require assistance, please arrive early and let the gate staff know, so that we can organise transport for you.

This is your chance to learn first-hand from industry leaders. These four forums are a springboard for budding filmmakers and offer valuable insights for professionals. Interact with some of the countries leading Directors, Producers, Writers, Actors and Teachers. Ask the questions you have always wanted to ask. Inquire, debate, interact and glean valuable information from these experienced filmmakers. Choose a forum theme to suit, or attend them all for FREE!

At Alma Beach Matt Whitton is a filmmaker and musician from Magnetic Island who has worked extensively with children, people with disabilities, indigenous groups and veterans. He offers a film workshop where younger kids can join in and have some fun. |
OUR MISSION
The Great Barrier Reef Film Festival presents a range of feature films, short films, documentaries and animations from around the world, whilst highlighting Queensland film makers and the varied cultures, stories and environment that surround and affect the Great Barrier Reef and the world's oceans and waterways.
Forums and workshops encompass film industry professionals, film students and film enthusiasts, and provide an environment that is conducive to fostering discussions, collaborations, connections and new opportunities to develop the film industry in North Queensland.
